Print on Demand. This book provides a fascinating collection of responses from leading political and non-political figures of the time to a survey conducted in 1907 on the prospects for a peaceful resolution to ethnic tensions in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The survey asked the participants to consider whether a compromise was possible that would recognize and respect the autonomy of the various ethnic groups within the empire, and if so, whether this would lead to a genuine sense of shared interests among all its peoples. The diverse responses included in this book offer valuable insights into the complex challenges and potential solutions to the issue of ethnic conflict in a multinational state. They also shed light on the broader context of European history and the rise of nationalism during this period. Overall, this book presents a rich and nuanced examination of a pressing issue that continues to resonate in the present day. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
