Item description from seller
Language: English. About The Book: The Neo-Romantic Movement in Contemporary Philosophy by Sisir Kumar Maitra explores the resurgence of Romantic ideals in modern philosophy. The work examines how contemporary philosophers embrace emotions, individualism, and reject rigid rationalism. Maitra analyzes the movement’s influence on ethics, metaphysics, and aesthetics, emphasizing the interplay between reason and intuition. He highlights Neo-Romanticism’s integration of personal experience, imagination, and creativity into philosophical inquiry, challenging conventional scientific approaches to understanding human existence and the world, and advocating for a more holistic, experiential view of philosophy. About The Author: Sisir Kumar Maitra (1887–1963) was a distinguished Indian philosopher known for his comparative study of Eastern and Western philosophies. As Head of the Department of Philosophy at Banaras Hindu University, he focused on Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy, exploring themes like intuition, karma, and spirituality. His works include The Neo-Romantic Movement in Contemporary Philosophy (1922) and Studies in Sri Aurobindo's Philosophy (1945), bridging Eastern spirituality with Western intellectual traditions.
