About the book >.>.> Nedko Solakov: Romantic Landscapes with Missing Parts presents the works of one of Bulgaria's most esteemed contemporary artists. Renowned internationally and highly respected in his homeland, Solakov has a background in technique and craftsmanship acquired at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, similar to his famous compatriot Christo, who left Bulgaria early in his career. Despite evolving towards a conceptual artistic direction, Solakov maintains a remarkable skill in painting and drawing, presenting these elements in his latest work, ?Romantic Landscapes with Missing Parts.? This work, being unveiled for the first time in Berlin and Ulm, blends traditional painting with a distinct sense of humour to create an ironic spatial installation. The publication showcases Solakov's artwork from the past decade, addressing themes of daily life, language, human behaviour, and the art world. It features a selection of pieces, including the symbolically rich ?New Noah's Ark? from 1992 and the interactive installation ?A Life (Black & White),? which garnered the artist significant acclaim at the Venice Biennale in 2001. Solakov?s oeuvre stands out due to its diverse expressive forms and profound content, consistently revolving around the absurd, illuminating the contradictions between idealism and reality.Acknowledgements are given to Solakov for his productive and amicable collaboration in establishing the ?Romantic Landscapes with Missing Parts? exhibition in various venues in Berlin and Ulm. Additionally, he collaborated with graphic designer Ralf Henning on the well-crafted catalogue book, which thoughtfully encapsulates his artistic vision. The publication includes essays and insights into Solakov's artistic journey, making it an essential resource for understanding his creative landscape.…
