Necessary Stranger, Graham Foust's third book, offers agile poems of dread and humor. Robert Creeley writes, "These poems move in close to luxuriant circles, round and round each particular syllable, neither hurrying nor dragging behind—just there. At times there seems an almost physical presence to them, a third dimension, which is substance."
About the Authors:
Foust was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1970 and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Since leaving Wisconsin in 1992, he has lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Washington, DC; Buffalo, New York; Des Moines, Iowa; Iowa City, Iowa; and Oakland, California, where he currently lives with his wife Amy and his son Merle. The author of two previous collections of poems, As in Every Deafness (Flood Editions, 2003) and Leave the Room to Itself (Ahsahta Press, 2003), he teaches in the graduate and undergraduate writing programs at Saint Mary’s College of California.
