folio [36x22cm]. 2 volumes in 1. ppxxvii, xii 394, 395-933 + advert page for Wilcox & Payne. engraved frontispiece. full 18th-century speckled calf, lightly pitted. skilfully rebacked, though not recently, with matching spine and replacement end-papers. wear to corners and slight splitting to joints at foot of spine. very good clean and crisp condition internally. title-page close cropped to the head with partial loss of the word 'THE'. light vertical crease to title-page and frontispiece. although issued in two volumes, it is more common to find the work bound into one volume, as in this example. the title-page to the second volume is not bound in.
