Item description from seller

Single typed sheet, 8 x 7 inches, dated August 24, 1945. Header of the U.S. Naval Communication Service, Amphibious Forces, Pacific. Two punch holes along the top edge. The King praised the "skill courage and tenacity" of the British Navy in the Pacific. He also offered his thanks on behalf of "all my peoples" following the successful conclusion of Allied operations against Japan. Provenance: J. John Fox, intelligence officer with Amphibious Forces, Pacific. Fox served under Admiral Richmond "Kelly" Turner and helped plan operations at Kwajalein, the Marianas, Palau, Leyte, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. This document was held by Fox after the war and descended through his family. (Cowans, Lot 185, 2019) (University Archives, Lot 70692, 2022).
