The National Flag: A History details the history of our national flag. Johnson begins by tracing the development of our flag design from the St. George s Cross and Union Jack, continuing with a discussion of early colonial and battle flags of the Revolution. He then details the changes of our flag over time, and works hard to detangle myth and story from historical facts. Willis Fletcher Johnson (1857-1931) was an author and lecturer, with a twenty year tenure as the foreign and diplomatic editorial writer for The New York Tribune. CONDITION: Good condition overall. Octavo. Original blue cloth binding, gilt titles to spine and front boards. Bumping and scratches to cloth. Blue "Post Library Fort Warren, Mass." stamps to front and back inside endpages. Interior pages are mostly clean, save intermittent library stamps, some light toning. With illustrations in color. 115 pp. Presented with a new archival slipcase.
