A Narrative of a Spring Tour in Portugal offers a vivid, field‑note style account of natural life and travel along Portugal’s coast and inland routes.
The author blends careful bird observations with on‑the‑ground travel details, painting a clear portrait of landscapes, towns, and culture.
In this edition, you’ll follow a spring journey from Lisbon to Coimbra, with stops at historical sights, markets, and rural communities. The writing combines practical travel notes with scientific notes on local birds, habitats, and the changing seasons, all told in a accessible, engaging voice.- Encounter a wide range of Portuguese birds, including coastal seabirds and inland species, with remarks on coloration and behavior.
- Read practical travel scenes—routes, inns, markets, and the rhythm of life in towns like Leiria and Pombal.
- Learn how the landscape and climate shape animal life, along with reflections on museums, collections, and local experts.
- Enjoy clear, straightforward prose that suits both curious readers and natural historians.
