Neuware - This book provides a searing indictment of the inhumane conditions and abuses suffered by the working classes in the early years of the Industrial Revolution in England. Drawing on firsthand accounts, statistical data, and moral reasoning, Richmond exposes the long hours, low wages, and unsanitary environment that characterize the life of the factory laborer in the cotton industry of Lancashire. He argues that the employers, the government, and the public at large have a moral and political duty to alleviate the suffering and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable members of society. This book is a landmark of social reform and a stirring call for justice and compassion. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.This work is in the 'public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
