Chapter One
Simplicity Simplicity is a whole number the universe yearns to multiply. It is a seraphic melody the galaxies play to all with ears. In a capacious room erudites of life patiently compose simple lyrics; though the blind, disabled, and oppressed know this symphony all too well. Common sense is simplicity's best friend - although not so common - his associate is selflessness and since all our actions involve ourselves, we find it hard to be truly selfless. To be or Not to be Questions of reality leave us pondering in what seems like frozen time. Shakespeare once left us with a question for eternal thought, "To be or not to be that is the question? Is it better to have loved and lost or not to have loved at all?" That to me, my dear friend, is not the question for eternal thought that we should triumph before our eternal passing. Instead the query ought to be "to think or not to think", that is a better question. Is it better to have the burden of talent and not know how to use it or where it fits in, in this world; or is it better to be average and be glad to fit in wherever you do? The Convolution Within The incremental stress of life can create a pulse of unorthodox movements. One will find that their life's many travels and experiences have become a blur, If they ever become motivated to retrace their thoughts; This epiphany comes during the difficult task of trying to reassemble those thoughts It is then and only then that it hits them that their life has become quite convoluted. Somewhere along the path of life simple matters become overly complex and overly complex matters become impenetrable. But why? Why what? Why can't life just be simple? So many people have lived and died trying to solve this question -or have died living a normal life. Each person has left unique blueprints behind for innovations that have thrusted mankind forward into new eras. Yet none have left a book of life; of simple ways, simple rules, or simple philosophies to follow -to make this legendary, enduring, sarcastic, journey ... simple? Even the book of life in each religion is not simple. Each book conducts its message through metaphors Metaphors that must be broken down Just so it can become applicable to your life. Why? Maybe the answer to the question is not why -instead, how? Maybe it's not how -but what? Maybe it's just meant to be confusing. Or maybe its architecture is a game composited as a greasy funnel that once touched, begins -and once begun, must be played. And then you look around and realize There is no one else around And you are the game that is being played. The Alien Within Polluted voices in life have a staggering effect on clarity. Sincere gestures, once thought to be the highway to Heaven, are now being scalped at the front gate, it appears you can buy anyone's loyalty these days and for that matter their happiness too. Where is mankind in our continuous stream of evolution? We are traveling backwards. As time unfolds we unveil our true essence. Each passing day, each passing hour, and each passing minute, we display what's underneath our skin. Our attributes become more and more foreign; more and more unrecognizable of human composition. It is so extreme that when we look in the mirror at our past, we behold the sight of an alien. Lie to me. Lie to me. Now tell me it hasn't happened to you. Our intentions, our hopes, our desires ... we are not who we thought we were -we are not who we thought we would be ... Our hearts all pump mutated blood from our ancestors. The further back you search the more pure we were as a people: as a whole. We were better then. Today we've settled. In one shape, way, form or fashion we have become an ideal. The mission is to capture what it is to be human again and become alive. To live. Oh to live -one breath of fresh air in this pollution of smog. Then Lord Jesus you can take me away. But until then keep me here choking on this pseudo-oxygen as long as I understand that: Just because I am born in this world doesn't mean that I am of this world nor does it mean that I am human. Change The arrival of fear is a momentous occasion although most prefer not to see it as such. The prelude of upcoming events somewhat unravel the human experience. As suspense thickens and the heart pounds, ungratuitous events unfold new foundations of belief. Then the moment happens and change delights us with a cameo appearance - albeit with good or bad intentions. Its arrival can mean only one thing: the cement truck has come to pour a new foundation for our future; sculpting and cultivating the face of our hearts, our minds, and our tomorrow. The Call to Arms Although joy comes at unexpected times it never arrives to unwelcome arms. Complimentary warmth is its greeting; caveat of its contagiousness. Although pasteurized, its potency is harmful if not drank with a light heart. Notify all sentries at once for imposters! Double check all guests for sincerity. The time has come to let go of all worries and allow the freefall of all inhibitions by enjoying all life has to offer without fear. From Me to You and From You to Me A bird was flying high in the sky looking for a worm. It spotted one and swooshed down to scoop it up. Nearby, a little boy got so mad that he picked up a brick and threw it hitting a tree. The tree got mad and slapped a squirrel. The squirrel retaliated by going after the brick, but the brick was nowhere to be found. So, the squirrel slid down safely on the tree leaves and went about his business. Hhhmmm. The Ox got jealous and stomped the ground, shaking it violently. The ground began to shake and that moved the rock. Then it rained and the water loosened the rock and it washed away and landed on my lawn. My princess wanted to play in the mud and so she found the rock then threw it in the street. A neighbor driving in a passing car struck the rock and it flipped in the air hitting the bird. The bird landed on the same tree that the squirrel was on. However as the bird landed on the tree, he saw the worm that he was originally looking for but decided against eating it. Instead, he settled for a nut ... then flew back to the coo-coo's nest. I live to love, and you are the one I love I love the way you breathe because the air by your lips is so much prettier than mine. The fog of breath coming out of your mouth and nose shares its warmth so unselfishly -not giving it a second thought. I wonder if it notices me. I move closer, inhaling as much of your air as I can. I am trying not to be noticed, and look away as quickly as possible when you glance in my direction. I blush on both sides but you don't see it. Instead my insides tingle from your beauty; it makes me giddy. Inside my mind, I am slowly walking up to you and encircle you with passionate heat. You feel my steam as I surround your body with my warmth. You feel me as you inhale, I feel you as you exhale -I am paralyzed forever. I am in love. I want to taste this. I want to taste you. I need to feel what it is like to breathe your air. Maybe through tasting you I can travel through your soul. This must be what true happiness is. Now if making it last could be so simple ... The Family Mirror Family needs to have a healthy tablespoon of respect and a wormhole to the heart. Each member of the family has an unabridged mirror capable of reflecting the random acts of dyslexic love from family members. A hair raising scream echoes "I hate you!" Now this puzzle is far more mysterious than solving the equation for happiness. The unsolved mystery that family disputes resolve are far too miniscule than the average statistic. Familial resolutions require supernatural resources. We are talking about the summoning of all the surrounding gravitational forces within a twelve-foot radius, though it is not uncommon to find love within this message. However, it is uncommon to understand it. Heroic acts cause great blunder and pain. They are rarely recognized for what they are, and instead, are seen as a threat from an alien invasion. "Damn you kids! Damn you!". This is what I thought I heard, but of course in hindsight, this is not what was uttered. Instead it was the delicate thought of a simpler life speeding by. That old world and this new one collide everyday; the outcome is a daily punishment. Our punishment is living with our sin, apart from ourselves and apart from God. Where does that leave us? Who are we really? Of course, sin raises its hand to answer the question. It says that sin is the false recognition of our actions that lead to our fate. Our fate is the ambitious life of epic desires that have never come to fruition. But we never learned to let go of a single string of thread that was given to us from birth - that string is the most powerful force on earth. That string is our word. Our word is the manifestation of our lives through faith. Pastor Says as Pastor Does Secrets locked within the bowl of human intestine lay dormant for secular integrity. He preaches a particularly good sermon this Sunday -a sermon of goodwill. His secrets are hidden deep within his past, locked away -key swallowed whole. He smiles every chance he gets to misdirect any second glances. But the truth always comes to light or is it to life? No worries, God is in control. Let go and let God. Do not judge a man lest he who is without blame cast the first stone. The answers will come in due time which may not be your time, but they will come. My Life in a Nutshell The picture on the wall is ugly and it is no one's fault but my own. I used black paint to paint it. I thought it was pretty at first, but now I see it serves no purpose. The sound of a familiar voice echoes cynical laughter resoundingly. Though when it speaks, its rhetoric is soft and heavenly. Yes. I swallowed my honor whole, by biting off more than I can chew at any particular moment in time. Yet, my only regret is that I had not done so sooner -to earn the crown of pearls called wisdom. Unselfishly Selfish Death defying gongs ensnared my peaceful thoughts as they traveled through graceful pastures. This could be called entrapment because she knows all to well what she is doing. The casuality of it all -the convenience of her graceful cameo appearances, are far too natural to be of suspicion. I miss her. But admit that I must stay strong. I cannot give in to her desire for me to want her. It is what will make her leave. I must hold on to my wits. Or is it my heart? Who am I fighting anyway? Myself? I thought you were supposed to give your love not hold on to it? Oh well, I will be selfish. Just like everyone else. And hold on to all I have, not knowing if this is what is keeping me from getting where I want to go. External Deceit in Internal Ways A whirlpool of anger circles the restricted barrier of my soul. Heaven's angels overlook my intentions to ensure purity. However, my patience wears thin as unfulfilling circumstances perpetually encroach a hard day's work. The end to my means must be met with a finite solution or else -the end draws near. I hear infinite peace whisper my guarantee of overflowing milk and honey. I confuse reality with fantasy and begin to believe her lustful lies. She holds my hands to comfort me and points toward a shadow where lies my fate. She caresses my hand as a mother would a newborn baby and with the gentlest, most loving pull she whispers, 'Here lies your fulfilment'. I follow the smell of my fulfillment and can taste its sweet decor. Only to find I have been led astray by following the ways of the world to a place that burns with eternal flame. Quick Let's Make Haste! Time has its friends -and so does haste! They say haste makes waste but if you look closely haste makes time. You see haste has a niche; haste slices a window of time and serves it to you indefinitely, leaving you plenty of time to ponder your actions be them good or bad. Quite often your actions do not manifest an altitude of prosperity because the rear-view mirror is 20/20. When rushing a mistake becomes unnoticed but any task with value is worth taking time to consider despite desperate circumstance. When I told you haste has friends. I lied. It only has family. One brother: regret. Their bloodline is of royal heritage and runs thick and true. They stick up for each other and are always on time. His brother regret is married to lack of concentration. She is blindingly beautiful. So much so that while staring at her nude sculpture, the glow behind her blinds you and as you block the light from your eyes you suddenly forget what you were supposed to do. The Marriage of Two Souls The marriage of two souls is a union constructed with the precision of God; though its demise comes from a living-breathing vessel derived from dirt. A man toils for the purpose of producing good; if he feels like he cannot, then he just ... does. When a man loses a good woman he feels lost and the angels mourn his lost soul this loss creates a vacuum of pain this pain lasts forever -for he knows the magnitude of his loss from this once fruitful union. There is no purpose in life other than unfolding your destiny. As your destiny unfolds this leads to the unfolding of others' destinies which in turn creates leaders, who lead others, who would otherwise, continue to be blind.(Continues...)
