xxiv+pp.457-768+(6, index); early owner's sm.label fr.pastedown, foxing to top half through to t.p. and (to lesser extent) from penultimate leaf to rear endpaper, otherwise clean, tight and undamaged with good gutters. Half leather and marbled boards covers have surface rubbing, joints and extremities also rubbed, fr.joint appears to have thin split but is quite tight and secure. First published in German in 1772, from 1792 at least this was, as here, subsequently issued in translation as Volume 3 of editions of Hartley's 'Observations on Man' (hence pagination), but is in effect a separate work which stands alone (although the Index covers all 3 vols). Apparently scarce.
