764p. A hardcover book that has been rebound in 3/4 brown cloth, with marbled boards and crinkled, chipped leather title plates on the stained spine. Spine faded and boards rubbed; edges and corners worn. Library stamps to index and title pages of each issue. Text clean; binding a bit loose but secure for normal handling. A good reading copy. Volume 157 of THE NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, the first literary magazine in the United States. This volume contains the issues for July through December 1893. Features include "Ireland at the World's Fair" by The Countess of Aberdeen, "The Southern Confederacy and the Pope" by John Bigelow, "Highwaymen of the Railroad" by William A. Pinkerton, and "The Silver Problem" by Andrew Carnegie.
