Item description from seller

12mo, (180mm.), 231,[9]p. page 231 misnumbered 281. Engraved vignette title by R.H. Cook after de Wilde, and printed part titles present to numbers 1, 3 & 4 - apparently lacking that to number 2 although the pagination is continuous. Also lacking pages 47/8 and 111/112. 3 engraved portraits. Finger-soiled throughout, a piece torn from the head of B3 with some loss of letterpress from the verso, and with a paper fault (edge missing) from the fore edge margin of P1 without loss of letterpress. Contemporary half calf, marbled paper sides, the front pastedown endleaf soiled. A fair copy with the binding generally a tad tired; previous owner's stamped signature at the head of the title, and a blind embossed crest carrying the motto Vigilans et audax. Printed by T. Plummer with his imprint on the verso of the printed title. The portraits are of Miss Duncan, Mr Emery, and Mr Fawcett, the latter two dated 1807 on their imprints. Not the greatest of copies nonetheless, and allowing for the faults noted above, it remains a rare book with only the National Library of Scotland, and Glasgow University Library copies recorded on Library Hub.…
