From the Publisher
Given vampire novelist Rhiannon Beltene's penchant for going out for ice cream late at night, it's no surprise that someone leaves a bloodless and embalmed body in her path one evening. If that isn't upsetting enough, each new night brings another body with disturbing notes indicating that these corpses are actually someone's warped idea of gifts!
In order to put a stop to these bizarre murders, Rhiannon must cooperate with the unsuspecting new sheriff, who has no idea of exactly how the Beltene family runs Brennen County; delve into Celtic history; try to make the deadline for her latest novel; deal with her cousin, Trystan, who sleeps in a coffin and thinks he's a vampire; all whilst ducking totally unwanted attention from the media. Under the protection of her cousin, Righdhonn, she manages to get herself in and out of Beltene House in order to continue her duties as the Beltene, and help narrow the search for the murderer -- who, unthinkably, has somehow been able to breach the Beltene family's centuries-old wards to keep out strangers ...
Welcome to Brennan County, Michigan.
U.S. Reviews:
"Rhiannon Beltene is surely the most upbeat and colorful vampire novelist in history. The escapades of her eccentric family makes Murder for Beltene a high-spirited read." -- Katherine Neville, The Magic Circle
"... it's an amusement park ride that's comparable to the slow ascent to the highest point on a roller coaster followed by a plunge that leaves one gasping and holding on for dear life! This is a first in what I trust will be a series of novels about Rhiannon and her clan. When I closed the book, it was with a sigh and a wish that I had the sequel in hand." -- PJ Nunn, 8/12/99
"Compelling characterization by Brewer makes this a must-read, with authentic details and flowing dialogue." -- Mystery Time
