Light soiling to covers and edges, Flower and Soldiers leaves moderately toned, else crisp and square with tight bindings. Three novels based on the author's experience as an Imperial Japanese soldier in China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The first was composed as letters to a brother recounting his landing in Hangzhou Bay and fighting toward the Yangtze Valley. The second covers an interlude guarding Hangzhou observing the Chinese and fellow soldiers. The third is a diary of the campaign against Xuzhou.
