6"x8.5". 211pp. Dust jacket is in Very Good condition, not price clipped, with some fading to edges and foxing to interior. Head and foot of spine are bumped and rubbed. There is a half-inch closed tear at the upper right corner of the front cover, a half-inch closed tear at the head of the spine, and two half-inch closed tears along the lower edge of the back cover. DJ colors still vibrant. Book itself is in Very Good+ condition, with minimal shelf wear, head and foot of spine bumped and faded, and edges of pages foxed slightly. Publisher's code A-3.64[H] present on the copyright page. Spine tight and interior clean. Gilt titles clear and unworn. Slight fading to colored endpapers. Prior bookseller's gilt sticker affixed to lower right corner of front flyleaf. Section with 9 B/W photographs between pp. 180 and 181. First edition, first printing of this posthumous classic of American literature by the internationally famous Pulitzer Prize winner and Nobel laureate. In the original pictorial full-color dust jacket with the front cover featuring an oil painting of the Pont Neuf by Hildegard Rath and the rear cover illustrated with an oil portrait of the author by Henry Strater. This is Hemingway's well-known series of sketches of his life in Paris as part of the American expatriate scene of the 1920's, and contains literary depictions of such cultural luminaries of the time period as F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, and Gertrude Stein.
