Print on Demand. This book argues that while the majority of Christian denominations have universally rejected infant baptism, many Baptists have become overly concerned with minor matters of ritual, as expressed in the ongoing dispute over baptism with the American Bible Society. The author argues that the origins of the Baptist tradition are not about obstinacy or stubbornness, but a matter of fidelity to what Baptists see as the central message of the Christian faith: that salvation is available only through Jesus Christ and baptism is an outward sign of an inward commitment to him.
