1894. No Edition Remarks. 287 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Red and green cloth boards with gilt lettering. Ex-Library copy, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil and pen markings to front free endpaper and title page. Top textblock edge dyed gilt. Pencil annotations and marginalia to a few pages. Hinges are slightly cracked with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. FIRST EDITION & FIRST PRINTING. Mark Guy Pearse (1842-1930) was a Cornish Methodist preacher, lecturer and author who, during the last quarter of the 19th century and the first of the 20th, was a household name throughout Britain and beyond. - This is an incredibly rare book. It has a hand signed paste-in, signed by Mark Guy Pearse in Oct. 1904, so it has been added 10 years after this book was published. This is a first printing. Unusual covers: Two tone cloth hardback with gold gilt lettering to the spine and front board. The blue colour has faded significantly in general, please do see the imagery that accompanies. A few very small nicks to the cloth at the top of the spine, scuffing to corners. The boards are soiled in general. Firmly bound to the page block. Black endpages front and rear. The first blank page carries the pasted in signature of the author and above it in very faint pencil is the price 3/6. The pages are browned around the edges and have small fox spots. There are 3 contents pages and have shown these in the images. There are a few small closed edge tears throughout the 287 pages.
