An extensively illustrated historical album exploring Moscow’s culinary traditions and the evolution of its restaurants and dining establishments from the late nineteenth through the twentieth century. Rather than being the work of a single named author, this is an editorially prepared publication featuring historical documents, archival photographs, vintage postcards, restaurant menus, recipes, memoirs, and literary excerpts. It traces the history of Moscow’s taverns, restaurants, tea houses, cafés, canteens, and buffets, recreating the atmosphere of the city’s traditional hospitality. The illustrations and documentary materials reveal how Moscow’s food culture evolved while preserving its distinctive traditions. With a foreword by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, this richly illustrated album is an appealing reference for collectors of Moscow history books, researchers of Russian culinary culture, and enthusiasts of historical gastronomy.
