There are few internationally famous rock artists whose careers have not been adequately documented over the years. Van Morrison is an exception. For all his achievements, surprisingly little is known of Morrisons's life beyond the myths perpetuated by an often ill-informed music press. Morrison has jealously guarded his private life and maintained a mystique that few journalists have ever been able to penetrate. In this challenging and uncompromising book, Jonny Rogan attempts to separate the man from the myth. Rogan charts Morrison's development from his Belfast childhood, through the turbulent Them years to his final acceptance as one of the world's greatest rock artists. It is a fascinati.

Reclusive, difficult and enigmatic, Van Morrison is a gifted singer-songwriter and an endlessly complicated man. In Van Morrison: No Surrender, Johnny Rogan has produced a provocative and revelatory biography of the musician, analysing the sense of place in his work and the tortuous journey that took him from local fame in Belfast to international success.
Set against the cultural and political backdrop of Belfast, before, during and after the Troubles, No Surrender offers a unique and penetrating perspective on Morrison's long career and the times that made him.
This paperback edition includes a new epilogue.
