[ ABOUT THE BOOK ] Moroccan Carpets Book by Brooke Pickering, W. Russell Pickering, Ralph S. Yohe | This book surveys Moroccan rugs and textiles from the 19th and 20th centuries. Its focus is chiefly on rural carpets and covers, tent-weavings, bags, trappings and garments, presenting examples from a range of weaving communities and settings. | The book examines the traditions of Berber communities in the High and Middle Atlas, Arab-speaking groups on the Marrakesh plains, and urban centres including Rabat and Mediouna. Its structure begins with a chapter on weaving traditions, followed by sections devoted to individual regions. The survey is illustrated with 115 colour plates, covering the varied forms of Moroccan textile production described in the book. (MP).
