About the Author
Berthe Morisot was a French painter and a central member of the Impressionist movement. Her luminous, rapidly worked paintings explored modern life through portraits, domestic interiors, gardens, landscapes, and scenes of women and children. Her sophisticated handling of color, light, and unfinished-looking surfaces made her one of Impressionism's most innovative practitioners and a crucial figure in the history of women artists.
