- Book 1 of 8: Chronicles of the Veiled Realms
By Karyn K. Ballard
On the night of a rare eclipse, a child is born beneath the veiled skies of the forgotten realm. Her eyes—one glowing silver, the other inked in shadow—mark her not as chosen, but as cursed.
Her name is Lysira Virel. And her fate could shatter the world.
Raised behind the cold walls of the Temple of Lunara, Lysira has spent her life questioning who she is—and why the moon seems to whisper secrets only she can hear. She’s a novice Moon Scribe, destined for silence and study. But when a vision strikes during a sacred ceremony, everything she thought she knew unravels.
Across the realm, the ruthless High Inquisitor Deyric Solar rises. Once a devout moon scholar himself, now he’s twisted by obsession and the belief that only through awakening the ancient Moonshadow Entity can the world be “cleansed” of its corruption. Light must conquer darkness—or so he claims.
When the eclipse returns, so will the Entity—and the prophecy that foretells a pair of twins born of moon and shadow, one destined to destroy, the other to redeem.
But there’s a truth hidden deeper than any scribe has dared to write: the prophecy was never about fate. It was about choice.
From the ethereal forests of Velarion to the scorched ruins of the Sun Court, Moonshadow Secrets is a sweeping epic of identity, legacy, and rebellion. As Lysira unearths buried truths, she must confront not only the power within her—but also the darker reflection of herself that threatens to consume everything.
As war erupts and the skies darken with the eclipse, Lysira is faced with the impossible: bind the Moonshadow Entity… or become it.
To save her world, she must do what no prophecy ever predicted: embrace both light and shadow.
With rich world-building, lyrical prose, and characters that burn with intensity and heart, Moonshadow Secrets explores:
The blurred line between destiny and free will
The complexities of identity in a divided world
The haunting beauty of magic born from both pain and purpose
And the strength it takes to write your own story—even when the stars say otherwise
The moon is rising.
The shadow is stirring.
And only one voice can rewrite what was once sealed by stars.
✨ Dive into Moonshadow Secrets today and discover the power of choosing your own fate—no matter what the prophecy says. ✨

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
