About this Item
Quarto. As Reeve was introducing his study of the genus Cypraea (and correcting previous misidentifications), he takes on Mr. Perry [see Species 17], he notes Sowerby had already done a rather definitive job though his remarkable colored images here became the standards for those who pursued conchology. The 18 Cypraea plates in this volume all richly colored are: IV, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, X1, XV1, XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX, XXI, XXII, XXIII, XXIV, XXV, XXVI. OCLC locates only one copy of this volume. Bound in3/5 black morocco over maroon cloth, spine lettering gilt, original wrappers bound in. Internally clean and bright without foxing. Some off-setting to endpapers from old handmade dust jacket used for protection only. Seller Inventory # 027223
