Synopsis:
Moloney Up and At It is a collection of comic poems with a central character, Moloney, who tells of his experiences of , for the most part, sex and death. The language of the poems is that of the south-west of Ireland, of north Kerry in particular. Brendan Kennelly captures the easy, bawdy humour, the candid speech and the fluent narrative power of the men and women he heard telling stories of this kind.
About the Author: Brendan Kennelly was born in Ballylongford, County Kerry in 1936. He is a leading Irish poet and his published works include My Dark Fathers, Dream of a Black Fox, Love Cry, The Voices, A Small Light, Selected Poems and Cromwell. He also introduced and edited The Penguin Book of Irish Verse. He is Professor of Modern English in Trinity College, Dublin.
