Title: Modern Power Generators: Steam, Electric and Internal-Combustion and Their Application to Present-Day Requirements Editor: James Weir French, B.Sc. Publisher: The Gresham Publishing Company Place of publication: London Publication date: 1908 Edition: 1908 edition Binding: Original decorated cloth hardbacks Number of volumes: Two volumes, complete Condition: Very Good Complete two-volume set of Modern Power Generators: Steam, Electric and Internal-Combustion and Their Application to Present-Day Requirements, prepared under the editorship of James Weir French and published by The Gresham Publishing Company, London, in 1908. A substantial and highly illustrated early twentieth-century study of steam, electrical and internal-combustion power generation and its application to contemporary industrial and transport requirements. The work contains approximately 500 diagrams, technical drawings and pictorial illustrations, together with a notable series of 11 coloured composite sectional models showing the internal construction and operation of boilers, steam engines, turbines, generators and other machinery. All 11 composite sectional models are present and complete, with all overlays, flaps and movable components intact and in excellent condition. Bound in the publisher’s original dark green cloth with attractive black and gilt decoration and lettering. The gilt remains bright and the bindings are firm. There is light rubbing and shelf wear to the boards, corners, edges and spine ends, consistent with age and the considerable size and weight of the volumes. Internally clean and well preserved, with the illustrations and sectional models in excellent condition. A particularly desirable complete set, combining an important historical engineering reference with outstanding examples of movable technical illustration and early twentieth-century book production.
