A scarce six volume set on electricity and electrical engineering, richly illustrated with diagrams and photographs throughout. A six-volume set in the publisher's original Talwin Morris cloth bindings. Very hard to find in this sort of condition. Ink inscription to the half title of Volume II. Article loosely inserted to the front of Volume I. Illustrated in the text with diagrams and photographs throughout. 5 plates to Volume I. 3 plates and 2 folding plates to Volume II. 13 plates to Volume III. 23 plates and 1 folding plate to Volume IV. 12 plates and 1 folding plate to Volume V. 9 plates and 1 folding plate to Volume VI. This is a six-volume set on electricity and electrical engineering, with essays by various experts, edited by Magnus Maclean (1857-1937), who was an electrical engineer who assisted Lord Kelvin in his electrical experiments and later became Professor of Electrical Engineering in Glasgow. Volume I contains Section I: the Measuring, Generating, Transforming, and Storing of Electric Currents with essays by Alfred Hay, E. W. Marchant, W. C. Mountain and J. Leggat, E. J. Berg, and A. T. Snell. Volume II continues Section I with essays by M. B. Field, A. F. Berry, and J. T. Niblett. It starts Section II: Electric Lighting and Power Distribution with essays by W. E. Warrilow and J. C. A. Ward. 8 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. Volume III continues Section II with essays by W. B. Esson; W. W. Lackie; G. Byng and V. Zingler; F. Biliotti; C. J. Robertson. It starts Section III: Electric Tramways with essays by John R. Wignall and Victor Watlington. 8 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. Volume IV continues Section III with essays by I. Externally very smart, Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean except for the odd spot and handling mark, with more spotting to the fore edge and the first and last pages.
