Paperback. Walk into your next interview having already done it three times. Most software engineers prepare by grinding hundreds of coding problems - and still freeze when a real interviewer asks them to think out loud. The gap isn't knowledge. It's interview practice. Mock Interview Prep for Software Engineers closes that gap by recreating the full interview experience on the page: realistic questions, structured expert answers, complete interview simulations, and the same evaluation frameworks interviewers use to score you. Inside, you'll find: Behavioral interview practice - high-signal questions with structured answer frameworks, so your stories land with impact instead of ramblingFAANG-level coding practice - problems worked through the way strong candidates actually solve them: clarifying, pattern-matching, communicating trade-offs, and testingSystem design practice - real designs (rate limiters, chat systems, notification pipelines, distributed file storage) with architecture diagrams and step-by-step reasoningThree full mock interview simulations - experience the pacing, pressure, and follow-up questions of a real loop before you ever face oneA complete self-evaluation toolkit - ten scorecards, rubrics, and readiness checklists to measure yourself the way hiring committees do, spot weak areas, and track improvement week by weekRecruiter insights - the hidden evaluation framework, the red flags that quietly end candidacies, and what strong candidates do differentlyBonus rapid-fire section - 50 quick questions plus five cheat sheets covering coding patterns, system design trade-offs, and behavioral answer frameworks for last-day revisionWhether you're a new graduate facing your first technical loop or a senior engineer returning to the market, this book gives you what solo problem-grinding never will: the experience of being interviewed, evaluated, and coached - before it counts. Most software engineers prepare by grinding hundreds of coding problems — and still freeze when a real interviewer asks them to think out loud. The gap isn't knowledge. It's interview practice.
Mock Interview Prep for Software Engineers closes that gap by recreating the full interview experience on the page: realistic questions, structured expert answers, complete interview simulations, and the same evaluation frameworks interviewers use to score you.
Inside, you'll find:
- Behavioral interview practice — high-signal questions with structured answer frameworks, so your stories land with impact instead of rambling
- FAANG-level coding practice — problems worked through the way strong candidates actually solve them: clarifying, pattern-matching, communicating trade-offs, and testing
- System design practice — real designs (rate limiters, chat systems, notification pipelines, distributed file storage) with architecture diagrams and step-by-step reasoning
- Three full mock interview simulations — experience the pacing, pressure, and follow-up questions of a real loop before you ever face one
- A complete self-evaluation toolkit — ten scorecards, rubrics, and readiness checklists to measure yourself the way hiring committees do, spot weak areas, and track improvement week by week
- Recruiter insights — the hidden evaluation framework, the red flags that quietly end candidacies, and what strong candidates do differently
- Bonus rapid-fire section — 50 quick questions plus five cheat sheets covering coding patterns, system design trade-offs, and behavioral answer frameworks for last-day revision
Whether you're a new graduate facing your first technical loop or a senior engineer returning to the market, this book gives you what solo problem-grinding never will: the experience of being interviewed, evaluated, and coached — before it counts.
