This concise, in-depth account follows the U.S. Navy’s Service Force in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. It explains how logistics shaped operations across II, III, and IV Corps, and how the fleet adapted to rapid needs, surprise demands, and a changing battlefront. The narrative emphasizes real-world challenges, decision making, and the people who kept the Navy ready at sea and ashore.
- How naval logistics shaped strategy and operational effectiveness in a land‑and‑sea conflict
- The roles of shore activities, base support, and in‑country supply chains
- Coordination across services, civilians, and allied forces to meet urgent needs
- Lessons learned about planning, procurement, and maintenance under combat pressure
Ideal for readers of military history and naval logistics, this edition offers focused insights into how supply and support sustain a fighting force in war and peace.
