About the Author: Shingo Ohmori, Hiromitsu Wakana and Seiichiro Kawase are all professionally affiliated with the Communications Research Laboratory in Japan. Dr. Ohmori is director of the Kashima Space Research Center, and holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Thohoku, Japan. Dr.s Ohmori, Wakana and Kawase were each extensively involved in the Engineering Test Satellite Five (ETS-V), one of the world's first experiments in mobile satellite communications.
