About the Author: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marcus Geimer is working at the Institute of Mobile Machines (Mobima), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT, Karlsruhe (D), as a full professor. The research focus of the institute is on drives, traction and function drives, and controls, such as predictive control and machine learning methods, for these machines. He studied at the RWTH Aachen University (D) and received his Dr.-Ing. Degree in 1995 from the Institute of Hydraulics and Pneumatics (IHP), now the Institute of Fluid Power Systems and Drives (IFAS). After his education, he went into different industrial enterprises and was responsible for the development and construction of hydraulic systems and components. In 2005, he was appointed to the former University of Karlsruhe (TH), today KIT.
