MISUNDERSTOOD
by C.A. Shakes
Two hearts. Two timelines. One unforgettable love story.
Destiny Winters has never been the type to fall. Driven, magnetic, and untouchable, she keeps her guard up and her feelings hidden. Akil Phoenix wears his heart on his sleeve—an artist searching for something real.
When their worlds collide in Houston, nothing about their connection makes sense… and yet it feels inevitable.
But life has a way of testing even the deepest bonds. Dreams pull them in different directions. Timing slips through their fingers. And what started as something simple becomes anything but.
Now continents apart, their story is far from over. The questions linger. The tension simmers. And when fate gives them one more chance, nothing is as it was—and nothing is guaranteed.
What if love wasn’t enough the first time?
And what if the person who knew you best… is now a stranger with a secret?
Misunderstood is a lyrical, emotionally layered novel about love, timing, and the silent spaces between two people trying to hold on. Told across shifting timelines and cinematic moments, it invites you to ask:
Can two people find their way back, even when the past won't stay buried?
