About this Item
Illustrated by George Cruikshank. Very good book, no dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards with black and gold text and decorations stamped on front panel and spine. Blind-stamped edging on back panel. Edges along head and tail of board spine are crimped; small chips and fraying at head of spine; tail of spine has loss of 1/8" by 1/2", one small chip and fraying. Upper edge on front panel has 1/2" rub through; front fore-edge on front panel has several small rub-throughs and three of the four corner fore-edge tips are rubbed through to boards. Outside page edges are age-darkened. Inside front and back gutters are cracked but text block is solid. End papers are advertisements for other books. There are an additional six pages of ads following page 302 of the text. A number of full page b&w illustrations by Cruikshank. The title and dedication pages are connected, as is the first four Contents pages. A few internal smudges else book is internally clean.
