Two brothers were snatched from their home and out of the arms of their attentive babysitter on a memorable afternoon in a small Midwestern town. The disappearance, still unsolved years later, destroyed their mother and brought to light unfortunate, but unrelated, details of their troubled father's life. The babysitter still bears the emotional and physical scars of the terrifying event. Even the reporter who covered the case from the start can't seem to get over it, nor its eerie similarity to the disappearance of his own brother, which happened decades ago in the almost gothic woods near his childhood home. Now, as each player in this heartbreaking and suspenseful drama lurches toward an imaginary future in which the harrowing crime can somehow be forgotten, disturbing new details of the afternoon that changed their lives forever will come to light-with unthinkable consequences for all involved.
