- Book 9 of 80: Dr. Mishael Carson Books
In "Mind Your Language," Dr. Mishael Carson embarks on a profound exploration of the transformative power of words, weaving together insights from biblical narratives, linguistics, and contemporary psychology. This compelling work elucidates the profound impact that language has on shaping human civilization, culture, individual identity, and spirituality.
Dr. Carson begins by delving into the essence of language, presenting it not merely as a tool for communication but as the very fabric that constructs reality. Through engaging analysis and biblical examples, from the creation narrative in Genesis to the wisdom of Proverbs, Carson illustrates how words hold the power to create, destroy, heal, and harm.
The book then transitions into a deeper investigation of how language functions beyond mere words, encompassing gestures, expressions, and the profound silences that communicate volumes. Carson draws on the Tower of Babel and the Pentecost to demonstrate language's capacity to both divide and unite, emphasizing the importance of striving for understanding and unity in diversity.
"Mind Your Language" further explores the role of language in conveying vision, shaping culture, and expressing faith. Through the lives of biblical figures like Nehemiah and the teachings of Jesus, Carson showcases the critical role of articulate, inspired speech in leadership, community building, and personal faith development.
In perhaps its most impactful chapters, the book addresses the spiritual dimension of language, anchored in the biblical assertion that words are imbued with spirit and life (John 6:63). Carson challenges readers to reflect on the spirits they create with their words, urging a mindful approach to speech that cultivates life, love, and constructive action.
The closing chapters offer a visionary perspective on overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers, inspired by the lessons of Babel and Pentecost, and culminate in a powerful call to "Mind Our Language." Dr. Carson posits that through mindful, intentional speech, we can forge a path toward a more harmonious, understanding, and spiritually vibrant world.
Throughout, "Mind Your Language" is a testament to the enduring power of words. It serves as both a scholarly exploration and a practical guide, offering readers insights into the ethical use of language and the responsibility we all share in shaping our world through the words we choose. Dr. Carson's work is a compelling invitation to embark on a journey of linguistic mindfulness, with the potential to transform not only individual lives but the very fabric of our collective existence.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free.
