It covers the period from the board’s organization on July 3, 1899, until the inauguration of the civil government on May 1, 1900. Through extracts from the minutes of the board’s meetings and reports submitted by its members, the book provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by the board in establishing a comprehensive healthcare system for the island. It also includes the board’s proposed sanitary regulations, which were instrumental in shaping public health policies in Puerto Rico during its early years under American administration. The book’s detailed account of the board’s work offers a unique perspective on the development of public health infrastructure in Puerto Rico and serves as a valuable resource for scholars and policymakers interested in the history of healthcare in the region. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
