Overall Very Good paperback copy. Minor shelfwear with a slight bend to the lower fore corner and a bump to the bottom edge. Illustrated with photos and sketches. Includes a pull out chronology in the rear pocket. 791 pages. 10.25" x 10.25". Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe (1886–1969), a German-born architect and the last director of Bauhaus, emigrated from Europe to Chicago in 1938. Shifting from an increasingly fascist environment to one where his creative vision was allowed to evolve, Mies’ American trajectory was one of iconic urban development. Mies in America (2001), edited by founding director of the Canadian Center for Architecture Phyllis Lambert, is a thorough examination of Mies’ career from 1938 until his death in 1969. "Based on considerable new research and bringing to light previously unstudied material—drawings and collages, photographs, project documents, letters, and extensive interviews with many of those who worked with Mies—this is the first study to make full and in-depth use of the riches of available archival material." .…
