Neuware - Microbial Corrosion and Deterioration of Engineering Materials: Analysis and Mitigation Techniques for Engineers aims to fill the gap between research and engineering practice when it comes to microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) and deterioration (MID). The book provides practical information to aid decision-making in addressing corrosion threats through clear guidelines for MIC/MID assessment, mitigation, and monitoring based on various materials and industries. Different MIC/MID types, mechanisms, and techniques for control and prevention are outlined. Chapters cover the environmental aspects of corrosion, the distinction between corrosion control and corrosion prevention, and microbial induced corrosion and deterioration in concrete, metals, polymers, and composites. The book emphasizes the consideration of both tactics and strategy when dealing with MIC/MID, with a particular focus on cathodic protection. A chapter featuring practical field-tested tips to assist field engineers with MIC/MID is included, and case studies are featured throughout.…
