Review
From the reviews:
"Pook ... has been active in the field of fatigue of metals for 50 years. His aim in writing this book was to present the subject in a format that would appeal to engineers as well as to newcomers to the topic, and in this he has succeeded. The text is ... well illustrated. ... The book should be a valued edition to the bookshelves of engineers concerned with designing against fatigue failure. Summing Up: Recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through professionals; two-year technical program students." (A. J. McEvily Jr., CHOICE, Vol. 45 (2), 2007)
"This book is devoted to engineering viewpoint on the problems of metal fatigue. The book is divided into nine chapters and three appendices. ... In total, this book may be useful as initial course for engineering students whose professional interests will be connected with fatigue loading and fracture problems." (I. A. Parinov, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1138 (16), 2008)
“This book was written to appeal to engineers new to the field of metal fatigue. ... The author aims to present the basic concepts in as straightforward a manner as possible so that readers will be able to understand more advanced documents on a range of related topics, and this has largely been fulfilled.” (Zhanli Guo, Materials World, April, 2008)
