The tough, hungry days growing up in a boxcar, his busted marriage, his life of crime, his time in San Quentin, his near escape, and the seven days in solitary that tore his life apart - before he put it back together with hard work, music and more than a little help from his friends. It's a no-punches-pulled story of the brawling, boozing, womanizing world of country music and the ruthless money vultures who plunder the stars and their faithful fans. Haggard tells it not just like-it-is but like it's never been told before.
