250 multiple-choice questions on The Merchant of Venice, with a complete answer key and explanations. Fifty questions for each of the five acts, in the order the play unfolds — revise one act at a time, or test yourself on the whole play.
What's inside
- 250 questions, divided 50 per act
- A separate Answer Key & Explanations section — every answer explained, not just marked, often with quotes
- Coverage of plot, characters, key speeches, themes and turning points
- Questions ordered scene by scene, so they work alongside any edition of the text
Studying for GCSE English Literature? The Merchant of Venice is a set text for GCSE Literature, and these questions are built for the kind of close recall the exam rewards — who says what, where, and why it matters.
Following the ICSE or ISC syllabus? The Merchant of Venice is among the most widely prescribed Shakespeare texts for ICSE Class 9 and Class 10, and is offered at ISC Class 11 and 12 where schools select it. The complete play is prescribed — not selected acts — and this book covers all five acts in full, with nothing skipped. Question and scene references follow the standard prescribed text.
For US students, the play is commonly taught in grades 9 and 10. For everyone else — theatregoers, book groups, actors preparing a role, or anyone returning to Shakespeare after a long gap — the questions work just as well as a way back into the play.
How to use it: complete an act, then check your answers. Read every explanation, including the ones you got right — that is where most of the learning happens.
The Merchant of Venice: 250 Multiple Choice Questions & Answers is part of The Arts Edge Revision Series from The Arts Edge School.
