Item description from seller

Dust jacket unclipped, small tear, slight wear to edges. Numerous b/w Photographs, Line Plans. 128 pages clean and tight. Preface: - "The Meon Valley Railway will always remain in my mind as one of my favourite photographic haunts. Opened in 1903, as part of a through route from London via Alton to Portsmouth, and laid out to main line standards, it never fulfilled its original purpose, and remained a backwater to the end of its days. As an old Guildford driver once said to me, "what a beautiful line that was that ran through the Meon Valley, such wonderful scenery, that I always thought I was in a world of fantasy". E.C.
