Trainers are the decisive players in professional football. You are under pressure for success every day. And under strong media observation. Coaches bear the responsibility for the whole, the team, make the last and most important decisions - and usually stand alone for failure and mistakes.
How do they deal with pressure and defeat? How do they manage their players to go through the fire for them? How do they understandably convey their ideas, convince others of their goals? The experienced sports journalist Isabella Müller-Reinhardt has met 12 successful trainers - from legends such as Ottmar Hitzfeld to current Bundesliga coaches such as Marco Rose and Oliver Glasner. Her sensitive portraits show the people behind the professional facade, are not about tactics and game systems, but of social and communication skills. A fascinating account of coaches as psychologists of success.
