She was never meant to be ordinary.

After growing up in an orphanage, twenty-two-year-old Aurelia Jenkins lives an ordinary life. She loves her job, walks her dog, and spends far too much time at the local bookshop and café with her vivacious best friend, Esmee. Magic belongs in books, not in her veins.

Until the night it awakens in her.

A violent encounter unlocks a power she cannot explain, forcing her to flee and leave everything behind. When Aurelia meets Asher, the fire warrior sworn to protect her, sparks fly. While he may be infuriating-and, okay, his dimples are really distracting-Asher is the only one who can train her to control her abilities. Air fuels a magic in her called animadverto, and she must travel to the Kingdom in the Sky to discover her birthright.

Years ago, the Purple Slay shattered the four elemental Kingdoms. No one knows who orchestrated the massacre. No one knows why. But whispers claim Aurelia's power could change everything.

But Aurelia's magic is not simply air. And when her heart shatters, so will the world.
