Small octavo. (viii) 210pp. + 7 pages of publisher's ads. Faded purple boards, with blind stamped decoration and motifs on the covers. Gilt lettering on the spine. The publication is a third edition of the acclaimed work by Tennyson. The poem serves as a memorial tribute to the deceased poet Arthur Henry Hallam, a close friend of Tennyson, and is written in iambic tetrameter. The second and third editions, published the same year as the first are essentially exact reprints of the the first edition (with the exception of the correction of a few printer's errors). The publisher's advertisments are dated "June 1850". Binding with sunning to the spine and along the edges of boards, and with some bumping, rubbing and scratches. Book block slightly cocked. Interior with with some minor sporadic spotting and smudges throughout. Interior front cover with bookseller's sticker at the top left, as well as some marking in pen and pencil from the previous owner. Binding in good, interior in very good condition overall.
