Original full calf. 8vo. lx, 331, 38, 88pp. Bound with: "A Statistical Account of the Schuylkill Permanent Bridge, Communicated to the Philadelphia Society of Agriculture, 1806" (Philadelphia: Johnson & Warner, 1815). Later editions of both works (first published in 1808). Illustrated with 6 engravings and a folding chart in the first work and an engraved frontispiece in the second work. The Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture is the oldest and most historical agricultural society in the United States. It was organized in 1785 by 23 of the leading merchants, businessmen and land-owners in Philadelphia. In terms of condition this is a heavily worn copy with much chipping and wear to the leather covers. The rear cover is cracked and worn with some gouges near the bottom. The text is worn with some heavy foxing and spotting. The second work is heavily stained and the last 2 pages are chipped in the margin (no text affected). There is some early ink writing on the endsheets and several ink annotations to the title page. An acceptable copy of a scarce work. Seller Inventory # 7764
