The observation procedure 'milestones of language development' is mainly intended for pedagogical professionals in daycare centres as well as for daycare personnel. It consists of the introductory hand instruction, observation sheets to accompany language development in children from the second to the fifth year of life, observation sheets for the individual age groups (children aged 24, 36, 48 and 60 months) and the group evaluation sheets. The easy-to-handle procedure allows you to assess whether language development in two- to five-year-old children is age-appropriate at four language levels (exic, grammar, communication and literality) or whether delays or risks are indicated. Since the method can be used for children of two years, it can also be used for early detection of language abnormalities. From the observations there are first clues for the specialists how children can be promoted and linguistically stimulated in everyday life.
