This anthology of readings in Western Medieval philosophy represents the towering medieval thinkers - Augustine, Thomas Aquinas and William of Ockham - as well as other medieval figures. It features the best available translations of books - complete works or complete selections of works -which are both central to each philosopher's thought and are widely accepted as part of the canon. The selections are readable and accessible, while still being faithful to the original. Includes Introductions to each historical period and to each philosopher, and an abundance of drawings, diagrams, photographs, and a timeline.
KEY TOPICS: EARLY CHRISTIAN DOCUMENTS. Jesus. Paul and the Early Church. The Church Fathers. OTHER FOUNDATIONAL DOCUMENTS. Philo of Alexandria. Plotinus. Pseudo-Dionysius Areopagite. AUGUSTINE.
