The Mechanism of Asphalt Formation. This item is unavailable. The Mechanism of Asphalt Formation

"The Mechanism of Asphalt Formation" is a meticulous scientific investigation into the chemical and physical processes underlying the creation of asphaltic substances. Authored by Ottomar G. Strieter, this technical study delves into the transformation of petroleum products through oxidation and other chemical reactions. The work provides a detailed analysis of the constituents of asphalt, such as asphaltenes and resins, and examines how these components interact to produce the durable material used in infrastructure and industry.

Written during a pivotal era in industrial chemistry, this book captures the rigorous experimental methods of the early 20th century. Strieter's research offers valuable insights into the stability and weathering of bitumens, bridging the gap between theoretical chemistry and practical applications in civil engineering. For historians of science, petroleum engineers, and researchers in materials science, "The Mechanism of Asphalt Formation" remains a significant reference on the foundational understanding of hydrocarbon behavior and material synthesis.
