Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating nature of intelligence through the creation of a "thinking machine." The author, an expert in the field, provides a system of concepts to define intelligence and its components, including perception, abstraction, ideogenesis, and a drive for complete predictability. The machine created within these parameters is capable of learning, solving problems, and making predictions. Through this thought experiment, the book explores the complex relationship between knowledge, logic, and motivation, pushing the boundaries of our understanding of intelligence. The author argues that intelligence, in its most advanced form, is the capacity for universal induction, allowing organisms to predict all computable functions of the environment. The ideas presented in this book are significant because they provide a testable framework for understanding intelligence and its potential manifestations, both in humans and machines. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

By this time, many people have lost interest in the controversial question, Can a machine think? For one thing, the question stubbornly resists attempts at operationalization. Turing, for example, suggested the alternative question, Can a machine pretend it is a person of specified sex as well as a person of the opposite sex who lies about its identity? Others have argued that the important question is, What are the common features of biological and artificial computational networks that account for the production of accurate solutions to problems? To these questions can be added a myriad of possible distinctions between human and machine intelligence. Among these are issues of intelligence, learning, motivation, ratio nality, induction, synthesis, conceptualization, analogy, under standing and consciousness.
